judging a pageant & how i got the look for next to nothing

I was honored have the privilege to judge the MISS North Carolina/South Carolina pageant and wanted to share some details from the night and my Badgley Mischka gown that I got for less than $65 dollars!

Thanks to sweet Renee, The director of the pageant, I was lucky enough to be a judge for a beautiful group of girls and I needed a gown! I just so happened to be walking into Off Saks Fifth and realized the store was closing. They had one rack full of evening gowns all for 50% off lowest clearance price. I took everything in my size (even if it was ugly) into the dressing room with Brielle. These definitely aren’t dresses that I would normally goto or pick but thats the best thing about clearance, trying things you normally wouldn’t pick out and falling in love with them! Of course, We chose the white one! I knew I could jazz it up with some fun jewelry.

On the way to get my get my hair and makeup done I was planning on doing my same old, same old big boho waves like always. It’s my goto hairstyle, but when I went to see Rachel to do my hair she talked me into doing a high Fishtail braid! I was totally hesitant at first but absolutely loved the finished product. She was right, when else would I be able to rock a hairstyle like this and it complimented the dress to a T. She is amazing! (iloveher)

It was perfect, and it was fun to step out of my “comfort zone style”!

My ring was my favorite accessory! I got it on sale at a BCBG outlet.  My earrings were from an unknown source. I Found  them in the bottom of my jewelry drawer. hehe!

It was such a fun experience. I really enjoyed getting to know all of the sweet judges. It was a great group if I do say so myself! And of course a huge congratulations to all of the new title holders!

I was even lucky enough to bring my beautiful little sister along for the night.FullSizeRender-84

So the moral of my story is you don’t have to spend a pretty penny to get a gorgeous gown! Step out of your comfort zone and try on something from clearance that normally  wouldn’t be your style because you might just find what you need, fall in love with it and the best part… for next to nothing!
